Children birth –18 years of age that meet the requirement of the Vaccine for Children Program. Children are eligible if they are on a Medical card , have no health insurance, or health insurance that does not pay for vaccines. There is no income limit. Adult vaccines are available for the cost of the vaccine plus administration fee.
The Macon County Health Department provides Immunizations from the Vaccine for Children Program for a $15 administration fee for each vaccine. In order to be eligible for this program they child must be from birth-18 years of age and fit into one of the following categories:
- No Health Insurance
- American Indian or Alaskan Native
- Has health insurance but it does not pay for vaccines or for a specific vaccine. Deductibles are not eligible.
Private pay vaccine is provided for children that have health insurance that pays any amount for an immunization. The Macon County Health Department purchases these vaccines and charges the cost of the privately purchased vaccine plus a $15 administration charge.
Adult vaccines are all private pay (purchased by the health department). The medical card does pay for some adult immunizations. It must be presented at the time of service and be active for the current date. Some immunizations are not covered and will not be administered unless payed for privately.
We accept cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard, Discover & American Express). Private pay immunizations must be paid for before administration. The Macon County Health Department is a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) provider and can bill BCBS for vaccines. The Health Department cannot bill other health insurances. Private pay vaccines must therefore be paid for at time of vaccine.
Please call 423-6988 extension 1333 to check on the current prices of private pay vaccine. They are subject to change as price increases occur at the vaccine manufacturers.
