Medical Reserve Corps

When a public health emergency happens, YOUR help can make a difference.

Think about this:

  • If there is an anthrax release, hundreds of health professionals would be needed to dispense antibiotics.
  • If there is an influenza pandemic, several hundred health professionals would be needed every day to monitor, by phone, thousands of quarantined residents.
  • In the case of smallpox, thousands of health professionals would be needed to vaccinate everyone in the county in 72 hours.

The Macon County Medical Reserve Corps Needs Licensed Medical Professionals.  Register today to become an MRC Volunteer.

The Macon County Medical Reserve Corps, which is administered by the Macon County Health Department, recruits medical professionals, whether practicing, inactive or retired. Among those medical specialties needed are nurses, physicians, dentists, pharmacists and veterinarians.

An MRC volunteer's time investment can range from attending the required orientation and training to volunteering for health department events and attending annual exercises and ongoing emergency training.
